We got this book as a Valentine's gift for my kids, and it made me feel so many emotions。 It's a very sweet book about how we stay tied to our loved ones even when we aren't in the same room or living in the same area。 We got this book as a Valentine's gift for my kids, and it made me feel so many emotions。 It's a very sweet book about how we stay tied to our loved ones even when we aren't in the same room or living in the same area。 。。。more

Lovely storyThis is a lovely story that helps children overcome separation anxiety。 Even though it's not specific to death and grief, it is highly recommended in this category。 I got the Kindle version and some of the words overlap one another。 Probably a formatting issue。 There are also pages with just text and no illustrations, which is fine but I was hoping for more bright and colourful illustrations throughout。 The story itself is simple and easy to read and relate to。 I guess I was hoping f Lovely storyThis is a lovely story that helps children overcome separation anxiety。 Even though it's not specific to death and grief, it is highly recommended in this category。 I got the Kindle version and some of the words overlap one another。 Probably a formatting issue。 There are also pages with just text and no illustrations, which is fine but I was hoping for more bright and colourful illustrations throughout。 The story itself is simple and easy to read and relate to。 I guess I was hoping for a bit more, being so highly recommended。 。。。more

My Tata (grandmother) always called balloons and kites, "Dreams with Strings。" This lovely book reminded me of her story of "Dreams with Strings。"We added her description to our prequel to our Mystery Hunters Series, "The Mystery of the Missing Milk。" "Betty always called kites and balloons, 'Dreams with Strings。' She envisioned all the small children running with their kites and balloons, looking up as their 'Dreams with Strings' lifted them to the heavens。 Betty smiled as she imagined the star My Tata (grandmother) always called balloons and kites, "Dreams with Strings。" This lovely book reminded me of her story of "Dreams with Strings。"We added her description to our prequel to our Mystery Hunters Series, "The Mystery of the Missing Milk。" "Betty always called kites and balloons, 'Dreams with Strings。' She envisioned all the small children running with their kites and balloons, looking up as their 'Dreams with Strings' lifted them to the heavens。 Betty smiled as she imagined the stars grabbing on to each child to dance an interstellar dance, from planet to planet, from galaxy to galaxy, from dream to dream。" I will keep "The Invisible String" in my collection for my future children。 Thank you for reminding me of my beloved grandmother。 "The Invisible String" is a lovely book and I'm sure all children will enjoy this book。 。。。more

Read by teacher in class today as part of children’s mental health awareness week and held a captive audience。 Was lovely to see and hear the children be read to。 Book covered children being connected to each other, their grown up, or pet by invisible string wherever they are in the world

I adore the message in this book。 I read it to my prep class on day one, yesterday, and today one of my students told me his brother was missing his mum at recess so he told him about the invisible string and felt better! Gosh children at so beautiful!!!

This book uses the idea of an invisible string to explain the ties that bind us as family and friends。 A timely reas during the 2020-2021 pandemic。

The Invisible String is a book about a mother and her twins。 She teaches them that even though they may be far apart they are always connected by an invisible string that can never be broken。 It is a good book for parents to read to their young children to strengthen the knowledge of the unbreakable bond they will always have。

Super cute kids book! I love the quote: “Even though you can’t see it with your eyes, you can feel it with your heart and know that you are always connected to everyone you love”。 Would be a good gift for a new baby, a kiddo that deals with separation anxiety, or a little one who experienced a loss in the family。

This is a great book for these pandemic times。 It explains how we can be with loved ones even when we are apart。

A child in my class brought this book in to share with the other children。 His father had recently died and he had used this book as a source of comfort and wanted to share this with the class。 It is such a lovely read and has such a lovely message。 It has helped this child with grief, however did not focus on that。 It could be used in many different scenarios where children are separated from those they love。 What a lovely book!

Such a sweet book。 My niece and nephew got this book after their nana passed away。 When I saw them recently, my niece kept asking me to read and reread it and it got me in the feels。 Such a sweet book。

This sweet book addresses the anxiety adults, and kids feel when we separate for various reasons。 When her son is scared, Mom reassures her son that they are always connected by an invisible string and never far apart。 When he missed her, he just needed to tug on the string and vice versa。 The string kept them "connected" throughout the day until they saw each other at night。 This book offers an abstract idea of what love is and how it's still there when we're apart for any reason。 It's become t This sweet book addresses the anxiety adults, and kids feel when we separate for various reasons。 When her son is scared, Mom reassures her son that they are always connected by an invisible string and never far apart。 When he missed her, he just needed to tug on the string and vice versa。 The string kept them "connected" throughout the day until they saw each other at night。 This book offers an abstract idea of what love is and how it's still there when we're apart for any reason。 It's become the "go-to" book for different people and different situations like military parents, divorced families, families grieving a loss, separation anxiety, graduation, and more。 The concept that we are never far away applies to everyone and anyone who isn't with their loved one for one reason or another。 The author seemed to find a special solution that can work for anyone, which is such a gift to the world。 To listen to my interview with the author, go to my podcast at:https://zibbyowens。com/transcript/pat。。。 。。。more

Read this and INVISIBLE LEASH the same day -- this one is less spiritual and, thus, more universal in its concept/application。 Strong use for separation, grief, anxiety, etc。

I read The Invisible String today by Patrice Karst, and the first thing I noticed was the dedication on the first page, “to all the children of the world。” Unfortunately, the illustrator of the book envisioned a world in which no children have dark skin and the Asian children have slanted lines for eyes。 Representation matters。 Poor representation isn’t enough。Also, interesting to note that the author is trying to sell merchandise related to the book, most notably a red thread bracelet almost id I read The Invisible String today by Patrice Karst, and the first thing I noticed was the dedication on the first page, “to all the children of the world。” Unfortunately, the illustrator of the book envisioned a world in which no children have dark skin and the Asian children have slanted lines for eyes。 Representation matters。 Poor representation isn’t enough。Also, interesting to note that the author is trying to sell merchandise related to the book, most notably a red thread bracelet almost identical to popular Chinese string bracelets for protection and to symbolize connection that correlates with the Chinese proverb that states an invisible red thread connects people to everyone in their life。 The story made me feel funny about potential cultural appropriation, but the selling of this merchandise is such obvious cultural appropriation。 。。。more

Great picture book explaining love from afar, or close, & how we are all connected :) A convincing story for children to hang on to when sad, lonely or missing someone。

Cute, but it doesn't really serve my purposes。 It got recommended along with the The Gift of Gerbert's Feathers, but it doesn't touch on loss or grief as explicitly as I'd like。 Cute, but it doesn't really serve my purposes。 It got recommended along with the The Gift of Gerbert's Feathers, but it doesn't touch on loss or grief as explicitly as I'd like。 。。。more

The story provides us with a gentle way to approach these emotion packed topics and shows us why we are never alone, even when we are apart。 The story lets us in on a conversation between a mother and her children, who want to remain close to her during a stormy night。 The mum settles her children's nerves by explaining that no matter how far apart they are, they are always connected by an invisible string。 The siblings then test the strength and length of this string by imagining all sorts of places it could possibly reach。 The visuals are engaging and paint a clear picture of the kids imagination, from deep sea diving in a submarine, to climbing the peak of the tallest mountain。 Pease note there is a page in the book that makes reference to 'heaven' hence alluding to the passing of a loved one。 I feel, that the simplicity in which it is mentioned leaves the door open for the parent/guardian to elaborate or not as they see fit。 。。。more

This book had such a simple yet profound message。 I got it for my kids after their grandad died and I feel it helped them to realise that they are still connected。
